Peru has successfully passed a rigorous evaluation by member countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD) Committee on Consumer Policy (CCP), marking further progress in its accession process, the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) reported.

This result confirms that Peru's policies, regulations, and practices align with the standards required by the economies that make up this global organization, it noted.

On April 16, the OECD's CCP confirmed the successful conclusion of the evaluation, highlighting the high level of professionalism, openness, and commitment demonstrated by the Peruvian technical team throughout the process.

"This progress is key in Peru's accession path to the OECD. By receiving the organization's endorsement, the Peruvian State ensures that its legal framework protects consumers while fostering a transparent and competitive market," Indecopi noted.

The OECD has also put forward strategic recommendations that will serve as a roadmap to further strengthen the national system, it added.

"These recommendations will enable Indecopi to consolidate a dynamic protection ecosystem capable of addressing the challenges of the digital economy and new global consumption patterns," Indecopi stated.

"With this result, Peru reaffirms its determination to join the OECD, demonstrating that strong institutions and technical rigor are pillars driving economic development and social well-being," it emphasized.
