Peru FA Min honors Japanese-Peruvian Association

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Gustavo Meza-Cuadra on Friday awarded the Japanese-Peruvian Association with the Order of Merit of the Diplomatic Service of Peru Jose Gregorio Paz Soldan in the Rank of Grand Officer.

The recognition was granted thanks to its tireless efforts as a bridge of friendship between Japan and Peru, which maintain excellent bilateral relations.

The two countries rely on an Agreement between Japan and Peru for the Promotion, Protection and Liberalisation of Investment since 2009, as well as on an Economic Partnership Agreement since 2012.

Besides, Japan ranks 15th among the nations with the highest investments in Peru.

2019 marked the commemoration of the 120 years of Japanese immigration to Peru and the 50th anniversary of the Peruvian-Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In July, President Martin Vizcarra held a meeting with Princess Mako of Japan, within the framework of her official visit to Peru.

Last April, former Foreign Affairs Minister Nestor Popolizio held a meeting with Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Kiyoto Tsuji in Lima.
