By Cecilia FernandezThe young Peruvian singer-songwriter Daniela Prado returns to the music scene with her new song "Viento," which marks the beginning of another phase of her youthful folklore offering, which seeks to revalue Andean music with contemporary sounds, while maintaining national folklore as the rhythmic centerpiece.
"Viento" is now available on all digital platforms. It is a song that encourages resilience in the face of devastating episodes in life, with a sweet fusion of the Peruvian huayno, where the charango and quenas join guitars and drums to create a powerful and fresh melody.
The song was composed by an artist Daniela admires, she is Andrea Martinez.
“Viento is a preview of my new album, in which, in addition to my own songs, I will have guest appearances by artists I admire, whose songs move and inspire me, and Andrea Martinez is one of them,” Daniela Prado tells Agencia Andina.
“When I proposed my project to her, I was privileged to have her accept it, and thus Viento was born, with which I begin this new phase,” she adds.
Daniela also announced that she will premiere the video for the song next week.
Musician and music producer Martín Venegas directed and produced “Viento,” alongside Daniela Prado herself; while the recording, mixing, and mastering were done by renowned sound engineer Oscar Santisteban.
In this way, Daniela, at 26, is establishing herself as one of the leaders of the new generation of contemporary Andean music, with a single that combines the power of tradition with the freshness of modern sounds and her unique voice.
It's worth noting that Daniela Prado's first album was the EP Torcaza, which contains five songs: the first, the traditional Ayacucho huayno, Paloma Torcaza, which gives way to her four original songs: "Si te di," (If I gave you) a fresh saya-fusion approach; "Dejarlo atrás" (Leti it behind) featuring Latin American sounds like our marinera and the Argentine chacarera; and "No la dejes ir" (Don’t let her go) and "Un poquito de ti" (A bit from you) with huayno rhythms.
Daniela Prado is the daughter of Andean singer Carlos Prado, former lead singer of Duo Ayacucho. She also holds a bachelor's degree in music, having completed her studies at the UPC last year, and is also a vocal coach for the Taller Canto Contemporaneo (Contemporary Singing Workshop) led by singer Desire Mandrile.
She is currently pursuing a master's degree in music pedagogy at the International University of La Rioja, Spain.
Viento is now available on major digital platforms: Spotify, iTunes, Google Play, and Apple Music.
