Peruvian singer-songwriter Pedro Suarez-Vertiz was honored at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Washington with the Save the Planet award for his musical and philanthropic contribution.

After receiving the award from the hands of Myrka De Llanos, Suarez-Vertiz praised the sacrifice that Hispanic immigrants in the United States have to deal with and thanked them for promoting his music.

“Thanks to their loyal response, I owe them the significant diffusion of my music in that country, where despite suffering a lot throughout the generations our community has shown the world that Hispanics are an economic, intellectual and artistic power,” said the musician.

“I receive this prize very proudly,” said Suarez-Vertiz during his acceptance speech at the “2010 Somos Awards” ceremony.

The singer of “Amazonas” is in the United Stated to promote his new singles “Hay un modo” and “Marilo”.

The Somos Awards are considered the highest honor by Hispanics to Hispanics in the Metropolitan DC area and honor notable Latinos who have distinguished themselves in various fields and made a positive impact in the area.
