Peruvian sides FBC Melgar and Inti Gas were knocked out in the first round of the Copa Sudamericana by their Colombian rivals on Tuesday.

Atletico Nacional trashed Inti Gas 4-0 at home for a massive 5-0 aggregate score. Nacional triumphed with a brace from John Edward Valoy in the 18th and 62nd minutes and goals from Juan Pablo Angel (33rd) and Elkin Calle (82nd).

In Peru, Melgar beat Pasto 2-0 in the second-leg of their first stage match but lost the tie overall on aggregate 3-2. The match was played at IV Centenario stadium in the city of Arequipa.

Melgar's goals were scored by Paraguayan Oscar Gamarra in the 33rd minute and Ysrael Zuñiga in the 43rd.

While proposing an offensive game in the first 45 minutes of the match, the team led by coach Franco Navarro failed to erase the 3-0 deficit from the first-leg game.

Copa Sudamericana, South America's second most prestigious continental club tournament, runs from July 30 through December 11.
