Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Thursday reported that the distribution of the recently-arrived Pfizer vaccines against coronavirus is being coordinated with regional governments.

"In principle, we have received information (suggesting) that at least three regions, through their regional health directorates, may rely on the necessary equipment for vaccines to preserve the cold chain," she expressed.

According to the government official, the way how the distribution of the Pfizer doses will be handled is to be published this Friday, including where they will arrive and which population will receive them.

Remarks were made during her participation in the inauguration of the new Temporary Care and Isolation Center. This is a space hosting 150 beds for COVID-19 patients —implemented by the Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) on the esplanade of Lima-based Edgardo Rebagliati Hospital.

"We are going through very difficult times but doing so in a constructive way, supported by courage and drive, leads us to having the conviction that we will overcome this stage united," she stated.

Bermudez also said that —although the overcoming of this stage is still far— it is not as far as it was one year ago.
