Former judge Cesar Hinostroza Pariachi —who is currently a fugitive in Belgium— will be extradited to Peru to face criminal charges.

The extradition request was approved at the recent Council of Ministers session. It will be formalized through a supreme decree granting the extradition submitted by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.

Hinostroza is being prosecuted for the alleged commission of generic active bribery in the case known as "The Port's White Collars."

According to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), the measure was adopted following the report issued by the Official Commission on Extraditions and Transfer of Convicted Persons.

The Commission recommended granting the extradition after the Supreme Court's Permanent Criminal Chamber deemed the case admissible in accordance with the current constitutional and procedural framework.

The extradition request was issued by the Third Permanent Supra-Provincial Preliminary Investigation Court Specialized in Corruption Crimes by Public Officials, of the Superior Court of Justice in Tumbes.

The decision will allow the former judge to be extradited from the Kingdom of Belgium to Peru to be prosecuted by Peruvian justice.

The PCM stated that with this measure, the Executive Branch reaffirms its commitment to fostering institutional strengthening, which requires a firm fight against corruption and the strict respect for due process—essential pillars for consolidating public trust.
