The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo met with representatives of the National Assembly of the Peoples of Peru at the Government Palace in Lima on Tuesday.

Within this framework, Mr. Castillo announced that he will soon meet with various leaders, workers, Armed Forces graduates, and other union leaders to work in unity for closing social gaps.

"We will convene a meeting, no longer at the Palace but where people deem it convenient, (along) with defense fronts, teachers, unions, hard-working women from Peru, graduates of the Armed Forces, farmers, youth, and students because unity is necessary," Mr. Castillo expressed.

Similarly, the Head of State asked opponents to set aside political confrontations and respect the popular will of those who had elected him as President of the Republic in 2021 so as to meet the population's main needs.

"No more postponements for a country that has too many riches, for a working class that has always been discriminated against (…) This government is the outcome of a historic struggle which we are not going to let down," he said.

Moreover, the Head of State reiterated his call to establish spaces for dialogue with civil society so as to propose measures on issues, such as the massive use of natural gas, open admission to universities, the Second Agrarian Reform, the budget for community kitchens, and the frontal fight against crime, among others.
