on Friday said authorities at every government level should be clear that they must work in favor of the people and the country.
"Above all, we are here for only one reason: every citizen, the Peruvian people, (that means putting) Peru ahead of anything else," he said during the event.
Similarly, the Head of State urged elected authorities to prioritize attention to the education sector, indicating that it is vital for improvements to be achieved in their jurisdictions.
"If we don't change that, our peoples won't develop," he emphasized.
The top official also affirmed that it is the responsibility of the Peruvian State to meet the requirements that citizens, through their authorities, make to meet their needs.
In this sense, the President called for ending excessive bureaucracy and implementing changes. This way, attention to those issues will be enhanced, he projected.
Call for improvements
President Castillo expressed his conviction that "working hand-in-hand and implementing policies, not of the government but of the State (...), I believe that the Andean and Amazonian peoples will stop being the country's backyard."
Furthermore, the Head of State considered that mayors, by appearing before the central government requesting attention to their demands, "have not come to ask for a favor."
"It is their right, and a responsibility of the State, which must be assumed," he said.
Moreover, the top official admitted that the budgets received by many district municipalities result low in several cases and could be improved.
Lastly, Mr. Castillo announced that he will schedule an upcoming visit to the city of Jauja.
