Peruvian film “Asu mare” has already drawn 2’123,547 spectators across 188 screens nationwide, thus broking the box-office record in the country after its third week.
The national film, staring by the stand-up comedian Carlos Alcantara, stands as the second most-watched film in the history of Peruvian cinema and keeps ruling the box office despite the debut of the latest Hollywood blockbuster “Iron Man 3” last Thursday.

Moreover, "Asu mare" showed a better per-screen average for the third week in a row than "Iron Man 3" which had 70 screens more and over 100 screens in 3D format.

It is likely this Peruvian big hit has a sequel in the coming years, but now producers are focused on bolstering this work in order to attract more filmgoers and achieve the record of the highest grossing movie ever in Peru.

It is expected the film remains in theaters until the upcoming Mother's Day as a tribute to the Peruvian mother.
