The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, on Friday evening stated that the new regulations approved under the state of emergency are aimed at optimizing their implementation and strengthening the direct fight against delinquency and organized crime.

"We are updating the state of emergency with complementary measures, based on the results obtained and the reality of our country. We are correcting and improving what is necessary," he emphasized.

The top official explained that this state of emergency model will be gradually implemented in regions, provinces, or districts that require it, based on the information provided by the Peruvian National Police and in coordination with local authorities.

"That means the state of emergency will be extended wherever necessary," Jeri expressed.

"We have waited to have this updated version of the state of emergency. We have engaged in dialogue with local and regional authorities who requested that it be replicated or extended in their jurisdictions, and the format we will apply is precisely the one we have just updated," he reported.

The Head of State made these statements after inaugurating the Forward Command Post of the Unified Command, located in Plaza Gastañeta, downtown Lima.

This new operations center aims to strengthen public security in the area, in response to the increase in commercial activities ahead of the upcoming Christmas season.

"We are inaugurating this temporary operations command, where the combined forces—the National Police, the Armed Forces, and Lima's Serenazgo (municipal security forces)—will act in a coordinated manner to provide security and turn into a deterrent against crime during the Christmas season," he emphasized.

In this regard, the President announced that in the coming days these temporary commands will be established in districts facing high crime rates, based on intelligence information and crime maps.

This post's main objective is to reinforce security in one of the areas with the highest crime rates: the Mesa Redonda commercial hub and the Central Market, where high levels of illicit activities have been reported.

"The implementation of this command post constitutes a key strategy to tackle crime in the area. It will serve as an operational base for law enforcement, facilitating interagency coordination and enabling a rapid response to any incident," the Presidency of the Republic pointed out.

This operations center will be equipped with command and control units, patrol vehicles, operational furniture, as well as the logistical and personnel support of the Peruvian Army, the National Police, and the Metropolitan Serenazgo.

From the moment it becomes operational, it will operate 24 hours a day, with the aim of maintaining constant surveillance and deterring the commission of crimes.
