President Dina Boluarte on Friday stated that 2025 will be a crucial year to continue along the path of progress and development. Similarly, the top official reiterated her call for unity among all Peruvians for that purpose.

"We need the unity of everyone. In a pre-election year, it is up to all of us to promote dialogue and unity with the sole purpose of continuing to boost the development of our compatriots; that is why we do politics, to serve the people, never to serve ourselves," she expressed.

During the christening and launching ceremony of Peruvian Navy Vessel (BAP) Rio Huarmey and BAP Rio Nepeña, at the Navy Industrial Services (SIMA) headquarters in Ancash region, Mrs. Boluarte said the commitment this year must be unity, beyond differences.

"Indifference does not help to end poverty; it does the opposite. That is why I will never tire of calling for unity and dialogue, as good patriots who love our homeland," she stated.

The top official recalled that when she took up duties, she did so with the firm conviction of recovering a country that was facing constant political, economic, and social crises, and guiding it along the path of development, through work and effort.

"We are fulfilling our promise, recovering our economy, and on the path to its consolidation. At the same time, we are making steady progress on the various challenges we face, such as decisively supporting the Navy and industrial development in our country, a process in which this institution participates with great responsibility," she stated.

During her speech, President Boluarte highlighted that the results of this work are the launching of the new maritime patrol vessels Rio Huarmey and Rio Nepeña, which symbolize the improved capacity to build high-value vessels and the firm commitment to defending the sea, protecting the coasts, and security.

She specified that the vessels are designed to combat crimes such as illegal fishing and drug trafficking, as well as to ensure maritime security, contributing to the protection of sovereignty and providing assistance in search missions.

President Boluarte also said that for the construction of the vessels, SIMA acquired new technology through joint efforts and technical assistance with South Korea.

She added that it generated 850 direct and indirect jobs and an injection of S/58 million (about US$14.4 million) into the local economy.
