Peru welcomes announcement of U.S.-Iran agreement to cease hostilities

The Government of Peru on Monday expressed its satisfaction with the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran announced by authorities from both countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the agreement as an important step toward achieving "the return of peace and stability in the region."

"The Government of Peru reiterates its firm vocation for peace, as well as its adherence to the principles of international law, United Nations norms and resolutions, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts," the Executive Branch institution stated on X.

The announcement of the ceasefire was made public the previous day by both countries' top authorities.

"The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!" U.S. President Donald Trump announced on his social media platform Truth Social.

Meanwhile, Iran's Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, said the agreement with the United States brings an immediate end to the war.
