Cusco became the stage for a true sporting celebration, in an outstanding performance Peru secured third place in the team competition with a total of 62 medals during the 14th South American Championship and the first International Kickboxing Open.

The competition was held from October 22 to 26 and organized by the Peruvian Kickboxing Sports Federation. 



The event, hosted at the Casa de la Juventud Coliseum in the Wanchaq district, brought together delegations from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Uruguay, Chile, and Peru, solidifying its status as one of the most important competitions on the continental kickboxing calendar.

Among Peru’s top performers were athletes from the Peruvian Sports Institute’s (IPD) Athlete Support Program (PAD), including Henry Siquihua (-74 kg), Ana Medina (-65 kg), Mavet Yupanqui (-56 kg), and Kenny Bellido (-54 kg). All four champions will also represent Peru in the upcoming XX Bolivarian Games Ayacucho–Lima 2025.



The team standings were highly competitive. Brazil topped the podium with 36 medals (24 gold, 10 silver, and 2 bronze), followed by Chile with 53 medals (21 gold, 16 silver, and 16 bronze). Peru completed the South American podium with 19 gold, 20 silver, and 23 bronze medals.

With this result, Peru’s national kickboxers reaffirm their growth and determination as they prepare for the 2025 Bolivarian Games, set to take place from November 22 to December 7, bringing together more than 4,000 athletes from 17 countries.
