Peru's restaurant sector —composed of food and drink services— increased 3.53% in March 2019, thus registering 24 months of continuous growth, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) has reported.
According to INEI's Monthly Restaurants Survey —with a sample of 1,031 companies— the activity posted an accumulated variation of 3.84% in the first quarter of the year.
Restaurant groups
Restaurant groups expanded 1.53% underpinned by fast food, steak and
grill,
Chifa (Peruvian Cantonese food), and Japanese restaurant businesses, thanks to improved infrastructure, personalized attention,
franchise's expansion, and marketing strategies.
Furthermore, other food service activities rose 16.07%, while beverage services expanded 6.60%.
However, catering services slid 11.36% in March this year.
