The Executive Branch on Wednesday approved the National Multisectoral Citizen Security Policy thru 2030, a long-term instrument that guides the actions of the State in this matter in an articulated manner.
Moreover, the decree provides that the policy will also apply to entities at all levels of government, within the framework of their powers and functions.
Said entities must fulfill their obligations and responsibilities in accordance with the provisions of Articles 19 and 20 of the Regulation that applies to National Policies, which was approved by
Supreme Decree 029-2018-PCM.
In addition, it establishes that the
Ministry of Interior, as the governing body of the National Citizen Security System —through the General Directorate of Citizen Security or whichever is acting on its behalf— leads the National Multisectoral Citizen Security Policy thru 2030.
The decree states that said ministry is in charge of monitoring and evaluating such policy.
Said process shall be undertaken in accordance with the guidelines and methodology established by the
National Center for Strategic Planning (CEPLAN) in terms of monitoring and evaluation of policies, and those that the Ministry of Interior deems appropriate.
Additionally, it indicates that State entities responsible for the fulfillment of the priority objectives of the National Multisectoral Citizen Security Policy thru 2030 shall provide timely information to the Ministry of Interior in order monitor and evaluate the implementation of such policy.
