With victories of Ivan Miranda and Mauricio Echazu, the Peruvian team opened its participation in Davis Cup beating the Netherlands Antilles 2-0 in their respective Americas Zone Group II competitions.
In the first match, Peruvian ‘Chino’ Miranda defeated David Josepa 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1 in one hour.
Due to its vast experience, Miranda knew how to control the game and convincingly outclassed his opponent in the match held at Club Lawn Tennis de la Exposicion in Lima, Peru.
In the second match, Mauricio Echazu (ranked 498th by ATP) beat Alexander Blom 6-2, 6-3 and 7-5.
With these partial results, Peru becomes the first option to win this heat and continue its journey to reach the Davis Cup Americas Zone Group I.
The winner will play winner of the match between El Salvador and Dominican Republic on July 8-10.
