British Ambassador to Peru Kate Harrisson on Saturday affirmed that more than 50 British companies specialized in qualification, design, and implementation of projects are interested in Peru's education and health sectors.

"These firms are eager to get to know the local contractors and companies that will participate in these projects and the future ones, which will get underway as part of the government-to-government agreement that the United Kingdom signed with the Authority for Reconstruction with Changes (ARCC)," she said.

Harrisson's remarks were made in a virtual conference that explored the British experience in health and education projects —organized by the Construction and Engineering Guild of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL) and the British Peruvian Chamber of Commerce.

In this regard, the diplomat highlighted the work carried out by the Authority for Reconstruction with Changes (ARCC) in a bid to implement projects following international standards and using agile processes.

"We know this is not an easy task —especially due to the pandemic we are facing— but the technology and management mechanisms currently in place are extremely helpful to meet the execution deadlines and, if a difficulty arises, it is overcome," she stated.

According to the British Ambassador, interested companies will bring technology, experience in design and management, as well as innovative solutions to various needs in the implementation of hospitals and schools.

Stock of investment

For his part, Peruvian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Juan Carlos Gamarra noted that, since 2019, the European nation has become the largest investor in our country, with a stock of foreign direct investment of US$4.67 billion.

This accounts for 17.8% of the foreign investment in Peru last year.
