Culture Ministry issues statement on tickets for Inca Trail and Machu Picchu Sanctuary

Starting Monday, November 17, reservations and payments for tickets to the Inca Trail Network and the Machu Picchu Sanctuary for 2026 will be available, in order to facilitate better planning for domestic and foreign visitors, as well as for tour operators and travel agencies.

This was announced by the Ministry of Culture (Mincul) on Monday in a statement to the public published on the Peruvian Government's website.

As this is of public interest, we reproduce below the full text of the aforementioned statement:

Regarding the 2026 ticket sales process for the Inca Trail and the Machu Picchu Sanctuary, the Ministry of Culture informs tour operators and the general public of the following:

1. Starting Monday, November 17, reservations and payments for tickets to the Inca Trail Network and the Machu Picchu Sanctuary will be enabled, with the aim of facilitating better planning for domestic and foreign visitors, as well as for tour operators and travel agencies.

2. In compliance with the technical provisions for conservation and visitor flow management, tickets for entry via the Inca Trail Network will be linked to Circuit 3B within the Machu Picchu Sanctuary. This measure seeks to optimize visitor experience and ensure proper circulation within the archaeological monument, prioritizing its conservation.

3. The Ministry of Culture is conducting the necessary technical coordination for the upcoming opening of the Inca Trail's Route 6, which will allow for diversification of visiting circuits and help ease congestion on those currently enabled.

The government agency reaffirms its commitment to the protection, conservation, and enhancement of the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary, working in a coordinated, responsible, and sustainable manner for the benefit of world heritage.
