Peru President asks for unity to fight corruption

17:02 | Ayacucho (Ayacucho region), Jan. 29.

President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday called for all Peruvians and their authorities to fight corruption, poverty, and inequality head-on, as well as to achieve the desired sustainable development.

According to the Head of State, it is necessary to join efforts in order to improve services in education and health sectors.

"Let's take the example of Ayacucho to the entire country, which is a message of unity," the top official expressed.

Likewise, he indicated Ayacucho's message of unity is essential to fight and defeat the scourge of corruption, plus to reduce poverty across the national territory.

This joint work will enable the true combat against chronic child malnutrition and anemia, as well as solving the lack of basic services.

"I reaffirm my commitment to working hand-in-hand with you in order to make Ayacucho the prosperous and developed region it deserves to be," President Vizcarra underlined.

Finally, the statesman urged authorities to work on the population's most urgent needs. Thus, a level of understanding and unity with the Executive Branch is required, he said.

Remarks were made during Ayacucho Brand launching ceremony in the South-Andean city.
