Peru: Ayacucho Brand to benefit tourism, handicrafts

14:06 | Ayacucho (Ayacucho region), Jan. 29.

Peruvian Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Edgar Vasquez on Tuesday highlighted the creation of Ayacucho Brand, which was presented earlier during a ceremony held in the Andean city and led by President Martin Vizcarra.

"It (Ayacucho Brand) will give a significant tourist boost to this region located in the south of the country," he underlined.

In this sense, the official welcomed this initiative promoted by Patronato Pikimachay, an organization that relies on the support of the public and private sectors.

"Furthermore, we (Ministry officials) are strengthening the skills of our artisans, so visitors can take beautiful souvenirs home and share their experiences," he expressed.

Thus, Ayacucho Brand will be able to attract investments and enable the creation of a distinctive quality certificate.

"(…) In the case of Ayacucho Brand, we will provide all the necessary support to ensure it succeeds," Minister Vasquez added.

As is known, the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry undertakes efforts to consolidate tourism in the region through infrastructure works, training in tourist service delivery, and support for artisans.

Tourist destination

Ayacucho is a land of traditions, where tourists can admire beautiful colonial-style houses and churches. Plus, visitors can find welcoming people and extraordinary handicrafts.
