Peru President reiterates commitment to development in Ayacucho region

13:15 | Ayacucho (Ayacucho region), Jan. 29.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday noted that the unity of Andean Ayacucho mayors, governors, and civil society in their quest for progress is an example to Peru.

Speaking at the launch of Ayacucho Brand, the Head of State said his administration is committed to supporting development in the region through talks with its mayor and regional governor.

"We've noticed clear goals of where we want to go," he stated.

"Let's take the example of Ayacucho to the entire country, which is a message of unity, as they (Ayacucho inhabitants) are committed to their own development. Both district and provincial mayors, the regional governor, civil society, entrepreneurs, and artisans pursue a common goal: achieving progress and sustainable development in Ayacucho," he said.

The top official explained that Peruvians must come together to defeat corruption as well as reduce poverty, malnutrition, and anemia rates in the Inca country.

"We need everyone's commitment to getting Peru and Ayacucho off the ground, by prioritizing projects that directly benefit citizens and making the Government available to the population," he commented.

Likewise, Vizcarra affirmed his administration's main commitment at the Executive Branch is to make progress equitable.

"We need to make strides together and in a balanced manner. That is our commitment and coincides with that of local and regional authorities. Let's take this opportunity, which is an effort of private companies and all sectors in Ayacucho to continue growing," he added.
