Former Odebrecht representative in Peru Jorge Barata will deliver the documents supporting his testimonies once the Peruvian Judicial Branch has standardized the agreement signed between the Brazilian company and Peruvian Public Ministry, his attorney Carlos Kauffman affirmed Friday.

"We will wait for the standardization (of the agreement) in order to hand over the documents. We expect it to be standardized just like in Brazil," he told reporters.

According to Lava Jato Case Special Prosecution Group Coordinator Rafael Vela, Barata has promised to deliver over 4,000 pages from the servers used to register Odebrecht's illegal payments to Peruvian politicians and officials.

To be considered fully legal, this accord must be approved by a judge. For that reason, the special team submitted it to the Judiciary's office in Lima on March 25

Likewise, Kauffman indicated his client has answered all the questions truthfully, as demanded by the existing collaboration agreement.

Remarks were made on the final day of interrogations held in Curitiba (Brazil).

Collaboration agreement

As is known, the Brazilian construction giant admitted to having paid millions in bribes to government officials in Peru, in order to secure public-works contracts.

As a result, Odebrecht benefited from over US$143 million between 2005 and 2014 in Peru, according to the U.S. Justice Department.

In addition, four ex-Presidents have been linked to the Brazilian company such as: Alejandro Toledo (2001-2006), Alan Garcia (2006-2011), Ollanta Humala (2011-2016), and Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (2016-2018)

Former presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori —currently under preventive detention— also allegedly received money from Odebrecht for her 2011 campaign.
