A second foreign national was intervened on Monday, September 14, for allegedly working illegally as a tour guide on the Amazonian route to the Machu Picchu Inca Citadel,
The individual was a 44-year-old Czech national identified by the initials J.O. He was intervened while offering tour guide services along the Intihuatana-Hidroelectrica section of the Machu Picchu Archaeological Park.
Inspectors from Gercetur carried out a surprise operation at the alternate entrance to the World Wonder.
During the operation, it was determined that the foreign citizen lacked the accreditation and documentation required under Peruvian regulations.
The inspectors drew up the corresponding report and initiated an Administrative Sanctioning Procedure (PAS) against the travel agency responsible for hiring him.
In addition, the matter was immediately referred to the National Superintendence of Migrations and the Regional Labor Management Office for the appropriate legal and sanctioning action.
This incident reveals a worrying recurrence in the area, as it comes just two weeks after a Ugandan national was intervened for the same violation in that sector.
In response to the situation, the management office reaffirmed that control and inspection efforts will continue permanently at all entrances and along the region’s circuits to combat informality and ensure safe tourism services.
