Similarly, Mr. Castillo specified that some people do not think well of the presence of the OAS mission in Peru, since critics claimed that its members "have nothing to do here." However, this idea is wrong because our country "cannot be an island."
"Just as Peru has major needs, has problems to solve and faces huge gaps, we know that the enemies of countries are poverty, major inequalities, and the lack of opportunities," he specified.
Concerning the relationship with Congress, he said the Executive Branch never set any trap, and that it has always expressed the will to continue with dialogue so as to move the country forward.
Remarks were made during Mr. Castillo's visit to the Venegas Herrera family, whose home was affected by a fire in Lima's peripheral Villa Maria del Triunfo district.
