The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday called on various sectors of Peruvian society to "put aside personal and group interests," and instead work for the country and its safety.

"The only way to give peace of mind to citizens, alleviate the situation of families, and improve the living conditions of Peruvians is by reaching consensus and agreeing on the country's fundamental issues," Mr. Castillo expressed.

Within this framework, the Head of State said that he calls on all sectors "to put aside personal and group interests, but to put Peru first."

On the other hand, the top official lamented the fact that Congress had recently censured Interior Minister Dimitri Senmache and questioned the reasons provided to support that act.

"As President of the Republic, I lament that political reasons have prevailed in this decision, instead of the purpose of objectively overseeing the work of the Executive Branch," he stated.

Likewise, Mr. Castillo affirmed that "those who lose the most are our citizens because of such decision."

Support for Flagrancy Units

Moreover, the President said that he reaffirms his commitment to continue fighting for citizen security and highlighted the implementation of the Flagrancy Unit in Trujillo's El Porvenir district.

"At this unit, the Police will work in a single location in an articulated manner; the Prosecutor's Office, the Public Defender's Office, and the Judicial Branch (will join efforts) to sanction common crimes quickly," he explained.

The Head of State pointed out that the objective "is to have Flagrancy Units throughout the national territory."

At that point, he reaffirmed his administration's commitment to financially support these efforts.

"My solidarity with the families and people who are affected," he expressed.
