The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo participated in the inauguration ceremony for the Flagrancy Unit at the Justice Administration System Integrated Center (CISAJ) in El Porvenir district, Trujillo province, on Friday.

This unit aims to provide a quick and efficient response to flagrant crimes that threaten citizen security.

Today's event also saw the presence of Judiciary Chairwoman Elvia Barrios and La Libertad Superior Court of Justice Chair Giammpol Taboada.

Flagrancy units have as their main objective the quick and timely attention to criminal act-related proceedings.

These units may even issue sentences within a period of 72 hours. Thus, they will be able to process files 24/7 (365 days a year).

For this purpose, each of them brings together in a single building the justice system institutions that participate in a process, such as the National Police of Peru, Public Ministry, Justice-Human Rights Ministry, and Judicial Branch.

It must be noted that offenders caught committing a crime will be taken to the police station and then to the Prosecutor's Office. From there, they will be taken to court through an immediate procedure.
