With a message that intertwines art, identity, and nature, "Artesanas del Bosque" was officially launched by the Association of Women Entrepreneurs and Forest Defenders of the Alto Mayo Protected Forest (Amedbam).

The initiative marks a key step toward a sustainable development model that merges creativity, women’s empowerment, and environmental conservation.

The launch event, held in the San Martín region, brought together representatives from the Alto Mayo Protected Forest (BPAM), Conservation International Peru (CI), local governments of Rioja and Moyobamba, and the general public, who celebrated this project highlighting women’s craftsmanship and leadership in safeguarding Peru’s natural heritage.

During the event, Amedbam members shared their inspiring story, how they transitioned from gathering forest resources to creating unique garments, bags, and accessories crafted from sustainable materials and inspired by the Alto Mayo’s rich biodiversity.

The program featured a sustainable fashion show, showcasing blouses, shirts, handbags, earrings, and toiletry kits inspired by the flora and fauna of the Alto Mayo. The runway came alive with Amazonian color and rhythm, accompanied by a musical performance by artist Byou Boe, whose energy and pride for the rainforest captivated the audience.

Through this new brand, Amedbam reaffirms its commitment to a green, inclusive, and sustainable economy, positioning women as agents of change, creators of value, and guardians of the Alto Mayo’s natural legacy.
