Peruvian golfer Julian Perico delivered an outstanding performance at the Hangzhou Open 2025 in China, finishing in second place: a remarkable achievement in his professional career.
“God is great, always. I can say with certainty that I’m very proud of myself this week. It’s tough to fall short in a playoff, but I bet it’s for the best; it always turns out that way, as long as you believe. Thanks everyone for the support. Now, on to Mallorca!” Perico celebrated on his social media.
Perico is part of the Peruvian national golf team, alongside Rafael Claux, María Salinas, and Luisamariana Mesones, all members of the Athlete Support Program (PAD, by its Spanish acronyms) of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD).
The team will compete at the XX Bolivarian Games Ayacucho–Lima 2025, scheduled from November 22 to December 7.
According to the Peruvian Golf Federation (FPG) —which receives strong backing from the IPD—, “Perico’s journey in China had it all, from an early elimination last week at the Hainan Open to this thrilling playoff finish, where he came close to celebrating his first victory on the DP World Tour’s alternate circuit, achieving his best result in 20 completed events, with 13 cuts made and five Top-10 finishes.”
Thanks to this runner-up finish, the 25-year-old professional made a significant leap of 40 spots in the Road to Mallorca standings, climbing from No. 67 to No. 27.
The result confirms his HotelPlanner Tour status for the next season and, even better, it qualifies him for the Rolex Grand Final, the closing event of the 2025 campaign, reserved for the Top 45 players.
