Peru's President meets with Bolivian counterpart

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday held a meeting with Bolivian counterpart Luis Arce, in which they addressed various issues on the bilateral agenda.

During the private meeting, the dignitaries were set to discuss the implementation of the energy cooperation agreements signed in 2021 to supply Peruvian populations with Bolivian liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), to supply border populations with natural gas, and to connect the Bolivian gas pipeline to the future gas pipeline in the south of Peru.

Likewise, the meeting was intended to address the re-engineering of the Autonomous Authority of Lake Titicaca and the promotion of Ilo Port for the increase in Bolivian cargo, among other things.

The gathering took place within the framework of activities undertaken by President Castillo in Chile, where he is scheduled to participate today in the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Gabriel Boric.

At the meeting, the Head of State was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Cesar Landa, Ambassador to Chile Jaime Pomareda, and Foreign Affairs Ministry officials.

On the Bolivian side, President Arce was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Rogelio Mayta.
