Peru increases its production of six main minerals in august 2025

Peruvian mining production increased in August 2025, with significant increases in zinc (29.2%), as well as gold (8.1%), iron (7.6%), tin (3.6%), silver (2.1%), and lead (1.5%), compared to the same month of the previous year, highlighted the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem).

Zinc

According to the Mining Statistical Bulletin (BEM), zinc production in August 2025 reached a month-on-month increase of 17.2% and an increase of 29.2% compared to the previous year; While cumulative production through August 2025 registered a 16.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

The department of Áncash leads the country's zinc production with a 40.9% share, followed by Junín and Lima, with 15.7% and 12.0%, respectively.

Gold



Gold production in August 2025 registered a 6.1% increase compared to the previous month and an 8.1% increase compared to the equivalent month of the previous year.

La Libertad has the highest gold production in Peru with 27.8%, followed by Cajamarca (24.5%) and Arequipa (21.8%).

Copper



Regarding national copper production, it registered a 6.5% increase compared to the previous month; while cumulative production through the eighth month of the year increased by 2.6% compared to the same period in 2024.

Moquegua leads copper production in Peru with an 18% share, followed by Apurímac (15.4%) and Arequipa (15.1%).

Silver

While silver production in August 2025 registered an increase of 17.2% compared to July, cumulative production from January to August 2025 increased by 7.4%.

Lima leads silver production in Peru with a 19.8% share, while Ancash and Pasco report 19.2% and 14.1%, respectively.

Lead



Regarding lead production, in August 2025, it reported 27,038 Fine Metric Tons (FMT), a month-on-month increase of 2.7%. Cumulative production through August is up 6.0% compared to the period from January to August 2024.

Pasco maintained its lead production lead in Peru with a 30.4% share, followed by Lima with 19.2% and Junín with 12%.

Iron

Meanwhile, iron production in August 2025 registered a 7.6% increase compared to August 2024. Meanwhile, tin production in August reported a 3.6% increase compared to the same month in 2024.
