Peru enters elite of luxury sustainable tourism in partnership with Nat Geo Signature

01:00 | Melbourne (Australia), Nov. 23.

Peru establishes itself as a major tourist destination on the international stage. National Geographic Signature – G Adventures —one of the most prestigious global luxury travel programs with a focus on sustainability— has selected our country as one of only six destinations worldwide to be part of its exclusive offerings.

This was announced from Australia by Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Teresa Mera.

The government official specified that Peru is part of this group of six countries selected by National Geographic Signature, which will promote it as a top destination.

The Cabinet member stated that Peru was chosen because it embodies the concepts of sustainability, education, conservation, and cultural experiences.

"Peru has so much to offer the world in this sector. Being selected is wonderful news that will position us as a reliable destination with a diverse luxury tourism offering," she said in remarks to Andina News Agency.

The minister stated that our country is interested in attracting this type of luxury tourism because it generates higher foreign revenue inflow.

What is National Geographic Signature – G Adventures?

The National Geographic Signature – G Adventures program is a collection of small-group luxury trips, the result of a collaboration between the travel organization G Adventures and National Geographic Expeditions.

The trips combine high-end comfort with deep educational and cultural experiences, exclusive access, and a focus on community tourism, including engagement with local communities and conservation. In this regard, Peru stands out for its diverse cultural offerings and sustainable tourism experiences.

The travel experience offered by the program is unique, combining the extraordinary legacy of National Geographic Expeditions with nearly 30 years of G Adventures' expertise in community-focused travel, providing a more personalized journey.

Each itinerary includes enriching encounters with the people and culture of each destination, as well as immersive activities to suit every interest.

What will Peru offer?

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) stated that the portfolio created by the National Geographic Signature – G Adventures initiative includes 29 exclusive itineraries in Peru. They are designed not only to provide luxury experiences but also to promote sustainability, education, conservation, and Peru's immense cultural heritage.

These tours aim to provide visitors with a deep immersion into the country's diversity, from its natural landscapes and unique ecosystems to its living traditions and world-renowned cuisine.

Under the concept of "Tourism With Purpose," the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (Promperu)  has organized a high-end familiarization (FAM) trip with G Adventures to showcase our country's attractions.

The experience will take place from November 23 to December 3, during which operators, strategic partners, and key players in luxury tourism will have the opportunity to explore Peru's cultural, natural, and gastronomic richness firsthand.

In this regard, Mincetur highlighted that Peru's inclusion in this program represents a strategic milestone for its international positioning, as it places the country on a platform with enormous credibility, influence, and visibility within the demanding luxury travel segment with a responsible focus.

For the tourism sector, this represents a key opportunity to increase the country's presence in high-spending markets and strengthen its image as a sustainable destination.

Being part of a prestigious program like National Geographic Signature – G Adventures allows the country to attract a more selective audience that is conscious of the importance of responsible tourism.

FAM Trip from Australia

Minister Teresa Mera also announced that the Trade Office in Sydney and Promperu have organized a high-end familiarization (FAM) trip with Australia's largest travel agency to visit Peru's top tourist destinations, including the Amazon, Cusco, and Lima featuring its gastronomic offerings.
