Peru bids farewell with honors to King Felipe VI of Spain

Peru on Wednesday bade farewell with honors to King Felipe VI of Spain, who arrived in Arequipa the day before to participate in the inauguration of the 10th International Congress of the Spanish Language (CILE), taking place in this southern city.


Upon his arrival, His Majesty carried out a series of activities.

On Tuesday, as soon as the King landed in Arequipa, he visited the Mario Vargas Llosa House Museum, the place where the Nobel Prize–winning author was born and lived.


There, he was received by the writer's daughter, Morgana, and by Luis Llosa, with whom he toured the site.


The summit began its activities through various plenaries that will continue until next Friday, October 17.


In the afternoon, the monarch also attended the session honoring Vargas Llosa, along with authorities representing Peruvian and Hispanic American literature.

Additionally, during his stay in Arequipa, the illustrious guest also received the keys to the city from Mayor Victor Hugo Rivera.


He also visited the Santa Catalina de Siena Convent, where a lunch was held on the occasion of the 10th CILE.
