The last members of the Peruvian delegation will return tonight to Lima after their participation in the XVI Pan American Games held in Guadalajara (Mexico), where they earned seven medals.
Members of the Judo, Karate and Track teams, as well as managers and staff, will leave Mexico city at 16:45 (Peruvian time, 21:45 GMT) and will arrive in Jorge Chavez International Airport at 23:00 hours.
Most of the Peruvian delegation returned to the country after their participation in Mexico, while others returned to their training facilities in the United States or Europe.
The closing ceremony of the 2011 Pan American Games took place on October 30 at Omnilife Stadium in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. As per tradition, the Pan American Sports Organization flag was handed over to the mayor of the next host city, Rob Ford of Toronto (Canada).
Peru finished the Pan American Games in the 20th spot with 7 medals (2 silver medals, 5 bronze medals).
The athletes who won medals in said international event include Alexandra Grande (silver medal in Karate), Julissa Diez Canseco (silver medal in Taekwondo), Claudia Rivero and Rodrigo Pacheco (bronze medals in Badminton), as well as Gladys Tejada and Ines Melchor (bronze in Track and Field).
