The officials addressed priority issues such as the current tariff measures imposed by the U.S., as well as the continuation of dialogue and technical exchanges, within the framework of the coordination maintained by both countries.
"This meeting reaffirms the willingness of both countries to continue working constructively toward an increasingly solid relationship," Minister Valencia indicated.
The meeting is part of the reciprocal trade negotiations that the U.S. has been conducting with various trading partners.
In Peru's case, the first round of negotiations was held in 2025, followed by intersessional exchanges and technical dialogues throughout that year and 2026.
As part of the Peruvian delegation, the meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade Sayuri Bayona; the Director General of International Trade Negotiations and the Director of North America and Europe Department at Mincetur; as well as the Chargé d'Affaires and the Head of the Economic and Trade Department of Peru's Embassy in the U.S.
Peru and the United States have a Trade Promotion Agreement in force since February 1, 2009.
This instrument has contributed to strengthening trade ties between the two countries.
In 2026, the United States ranks as Peru's second-largest trading partner and the main destination for its non-traditional exports.
