After uninterrupted and transparent work, the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) completed the processing of electoral records on Friday, June 12, totaling 92,766 such records corresponding to the 2026 presidential runoff election held on June 7.

The electoral body explained that processed electoral records are those that have already been received by one of the 126 computing centers operating within an equal number of Decentralized Electoral Process Offices (ODPE), set up to organize and conduct the election.

At these computing centers, electoral records are entered into the Electoral Computing System and classified as counted records, challenged electoral records, records with challenged votes, or records subject to nullity appeals.

Electoral records from across the country were processed at 125 Decentralized Electoral Process Offices (ODPE), while the ODPE for Peruvians Abroad handled records received from foreign countries.

Due to weather conditions in certain parts of Peru, the arrival of some electoral records at computing centers was delayed, affecting records from the Alto Amazonas, Atalaya, Coronel Portillo, Huanta, La Convencion, Maynas, and Requena ODPEs.

In some cases, the electoral records had to be transported by air or river.

Challenged electoral records

Of the total number of electoral records processed as of Friday (at 6:51 p.m.), 91,203 (98.315%) have been digitized.

Thus, they have passed quality control checks, contain no errors, and their votes have already been added to the final official results (counted records).

To complete the counting of 100% of electoral records, ONPE must wait for the challenged electoral records to be resolved by the various Special Electoral Boards.

Electoral records are challenged because they contain incidents or inconsistencies that require review.

As a result, these records are referred to the corresponding Special Electoral Board (JEE) for evaluation in accordance with current electoral regulations.

To demonstrate transparency, a designated area was set up at each computing center for observers and representatives of political organizations throughout the process, 24 hours a day.

The electoral body noted that the processing of 100% of electoral records can be monitored by all electoral stakeholders and the public through its website, ONPE results website.
