The Lima Group on Thursday expressed rejection to the illegitimate Venezuelan Constituent Assembly's decision to arbitrarily lift the parliamentary immunity of 10 lawmakers belonging to the legitimate National Assembly.

The legislators, whose parliamentary immunity has been revoked, are Edgar Zambrano Ramírez, Henry Ramos Allup, Luis Germán Florido, Mariela Magallanes López, José Simón Calzadilla Peraza, Américo De Grazia, Juan Andrés Mejía, Freddy Superlano, Sergio Vergara, and Richard José Blanco Delgado.

Likewise, the Lima Group categorically rejects the arbitrary detention of the National Assembly's Vice-President Edgar Zambrano

On Wednesday night, the lawmaker was taken to the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service's (SEBIN) Headquarters in Caracas.

"This represents a null and unconstitutional act since, according to the Venezuelan Constitution, the only body that can lift parliamentary immunity is the National Assembly," the document reads.

"The repeal of this prerogative without due process —and carried out by a false authority such as the National Constituent Assembly— represents an offense to the democratic principles and human rights recognized in the international law," the Lima Group added.

The Governments of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela (Juan Guaido's regime) signed the document.
