Peru's economy grew 3.21% last March compared to the same month in 2025, accumulating a 3.53% expansion in the first quarter of 2026, the
This Gross Domestic Product (GDP) result came in above the estimate provided by the National Society of Construction and Infrastructure.
The organization had projected growth of around 3% for the third month of this year, according to statements given to Andina News Agency.
March's result was mainly driven by growth in the Construction, Other Services, Commerce, and Manufacturing sectors.
These sectors accounted for three-quarters of the total expansion (73%).
Sectors posting growth included Construction (15.65%); Accommodation and Restaurants (4.94%); Government Services (4.40%); Commerce (4.13%); Manufacturing (3.60%); Services Provided to Companies (3.49%); Transportation, Storage, and Courier (1.77%); Electricity, Gas, and Water (1.33%); as well as Telecommunications and Other Information Services (1.08%).
On the other hand, the following sectors contracted: Mining and Hydrocarbons (-4.56%); Fishing (-12.51%); Finance and Insurance (-0.79%); and Agriculture and Livestock (-0.48%).
