Peru: President Vizcarra's approval at 70%

The approval of President Martin Vizcarra stands at 70%, the latest urban-rural Institute of Peruvian Studies (IEP) poll revealed on Sunday.

The survey —published in La Republica newspaper— indicated that 47% of citizens believe the Head of State has a clear plan for the country's development, against 42% who do not think that way.

The sample also shows that Peruvians continue supporting the measure adopted by President Vizcarra: to have dissolved Congress on September 30 (87% of support). 72% believe said decision was made in accordance with the Constitution.

Likewise, the surveyed population identified the fight against corruption, the improvement of citizen security, and the creation of jobs as the main tasks of the current administration.

According to the poll, 39% of the populations (residing in Lima and in other regions) coincide that the Executive Branch must focus on the fight against corruption.

Regarding citizen security, 45% of Lima citizens and 28% of the interior regions' inhabitants demand a solution to this issue.

Furthermore, 34% of the regional residents ask for the creation of jobs or improvement in working conditions, while 24% in the nation's capital support this request.

21% in Lima believe better health services should be provided and 28% in the provinces think the same way.

In addition, 12% in the capital city and 20% in the interior of the country affirm that the Government must take care of the needs of the poorest citizens.
