Peru President: Gov't prioritizes health, education, agricultural development

16:52 | Huayllabamba (Ancash region), Apr. 4.

President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday affirmed the Peruvian Government's priority is to boost health, education, and agricultural production in order to generate development for the people.

He went on to add this goal will be met with the support of regional and local authorities.

In this sense, the Head of State indicated the objective is for the regions and provinces —with the greatest needs— to improve their conditions thanks to agriculture

"We will accomplish that, be sure that this administration, until its last day in office, will work with your authorities so the population's quality of life improves," he stressed.

Within this framework, the top official underlined the Executive Branch will work hard so agriculture —in the Andean Highlands— can be transformed from a subsistence activity into a productive one, which generates greater income and enables the development of more families

Likewise, the statesman mentioned it is necessary to provide greater social support and investments in agricultural infrastructure

President Vizcarra also pointed out it is necessary to think about the future and firmly banish corruption, which prevents development from happening in this region.

Remarks were made during the inauguration of Gontapachan canal's irrigation system in Ancash region.
