President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday recognized the institutions that fight COVID-19 on the front line, adding that
building a solid, fair and developed country requires joint efforts made by institutions and citizens.
Likewise, 20,000 young people signed up —through the Bicentennial Special Project— to carry out phone monitoring and provide emotional support to 300,000 high-risk senior citizens and people with disabilities.
Furthermore, Mr. Vizcarra mourned the death of many citizens, referring to the fact that it plunges not only their families into mourning, but the entire country. "Our repeated condolences to their families and loved ones," he said.
"When it comes to serving Peru, political, ideological or religious differences do not matter (...) Honoring the homeland does not only mean commemorating anniversaries. Honoring means helping others without distinction and working day by day for the sake of all citizens," he stated.
"Today, as Peru faces one of its greatest challenges, we must bear in mind that nothing has ever been easy for us or for anyone. Building a solid, fair and developed country —with
high-quality health and
education services— requires joint and shared efforts made by institutions and citizens," he concluded.
