The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Friday affirmed that his administration undertakes all efforts so that the next one finds a country at peace, organized, and ready to start the path towards building a fair, inclusive, and egalitarian republic.

Within this framework, the Head of State pointed out that it is time to start a process of national inclusive dialogue —open to all— which could become the basis for a constitutional change.

"On our shoulders we carry the responsibility of rising to the challenges at this critical moment, one of the most difficult moments in 200 years of independence," he emphasized.

"In the (coming) eight months, the task is to steer the country in such a way that whoever takes the reins of government, on July 28, 2021, does so with full legitimacy and fully representing the popular will," he said.

According to the statesman, the administration he leads is one of transition and emergency to solve enormous problems and leave as a legacy the tranquility and peaceful transition to the third century of independent life.

The Peruvian leader also argued that the Bicentennial should be seen as an opportunity to renew the ideals which led the patriots to offer their lives and participate in the liberation process.

During his term in office, Mr. Sagasti stressed, he will carry out specific and specific tasks, in addition to offering confidence and hope to citizens, thus fulfilling the republican dream.
