Peru's PM to meet with political parties starting Nov 28

Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez will meet with legislators from political parties represented at Congress as of November 28, in order to inform them about the government's general policy guidelines that will be presented to lawmakers on December 3 and 4.

Upon leaving Parliament headquarters, where Bermudez had met with members of the Board led by Chairwoman Mirtha Vasquez, the Cabinet chief said she is willing to go to Congress as many times as necessary for the sake of dialogue and good understanding.

"What we have wanted to do is come and introduce ourselves, and coordinate with the Board members in order to set this schedule; we will start the meetings with each of the parties from November 28 to establish a dialogue prior to the presentation of the transition government's general policy, which will be held on Thursday, December 3, and Friday, December 4," she expressed.

The high-ranking official indicated that she will attend those meetings joined by some ministers, in order to listen to the expectations of the representations at Parliament "and for us to present a speech which reflects and includes this agenda that Congress is waiting for."

"Let us remember that in his initial speech President (Francisco) Sagasti raised the general guidelines of his administration, and we as Ministerial Cabinet are going to explain how we are going to do that (…)," she added.

For her part, Congress Chairwoman Vasquez thanked the Cabinet chief for opening dialogue from Parliament itself.

"She (Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez) will come here to listen to the various parliamentary groups, and then on December 3 and 4, we will hold the plenary session to listen to their proposals and decide on the confidence vote," Congress' main official concluded.
