Peru President reaffirms social pact to generate development and fight corruption

13:03 | Dos de Mayo (Huanuco region), Nov. 5.

President Martin Vizcarra on Monday affirmed his administration promotes a social pact with the Peruvian people, aimed at generating development and fighting corruption.

Within this framework, the Head of State indicated this commitment also involves engaging in dialogue with each of the Inca country's sectors and political forces, even with those that disagree with the Executive Power.

"I confirm we will continue working on all that: the social pact, the fight against corruption, and the creation of development for all Peruvians," the top official expressed.

In his speech, the Commander-in-Chief ruled out the statements made by people who insist the Government cannot fight this scourge and generate development at the same time.

"No, sir. Both things can be done simultaneously (…). That is what the people want, and that is what we will do," he added.

Likewise, President Vizcarra indicated the social contract prioritizes citizens. Thus, his administration is visiting each Peruvian province to listen to the population's demands

"When people work honestlywithout corruption— roads, hospitals, and schools can be built. We will do all that, and we continue working every day," the Head of State said.

"(…) You can be sure your President will be at the front and right next to you in order to create development works," the top official concluded.

Remarks were made during Dos de Mayo Province's (Huanuco region) 148-anniversary ceremony.
