Peru President: I have no doubt that we are going to overcome this moment

15:30 | Lima, Apr. 8.

The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday afternoon affirmed that he has no doubt Peru will overcome the difficult moment it is going through due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

"It is indeed a difficult moment, but we are going to overcome it, I have no doubt (about that). We are going to overcome this moment," he expressed.

Likewise, the top official reiterated his request for support and sacrifice addressed to all Peruvians, in order to adequately face the impacts of this pandemic.

"The disease is causing problems worldwide, but we try, with the rules and with a Cabinet that works 24 hours a day, to attend to the needs of the population," he emphasized.

"We all have to play this game, we all have to do our best. If we all do it —like the majority of the population does— I have no doubt that we are going to get out of this difficult situation, which the world faces, satisfactorily," he concluded.

Initially set to last from March 16 to 30, the measure has been extended thru April 26.

On this occasion, the President was joined by members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.

Wednesday marks the twenty-fourth day of mandatory social isolation.
