Peru President: Coronavirus cases total 4,342

President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday afternoon confirmed that COVID-19 cases total 4,342 in Peru.

It must be noted that 39,599 samples have been taken so far, including molecular and rapid tests. 

Thus, 35,257 citizens have tested negative.

The Head of State explained that —in relation to the data presented the day before— there is a significant increase given that the number of the taken samples has doubled.

Likewise, the top official informed that 512 patients are hospitalized, of whom 113 are connected to mechanical ventilation at Intensive Care Units.



On this occasion, the President was joined by members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.

Wednesday marks the twenty-fourth day of mandatory social isolation.
