The Head of State recalled that on a day like today —11 years ago— 23 people died in Bagua Province as a result of a conflict between indigenous people and the State due to a lack of dialogue and understanding.
For this reason, the top official emphasized that his Government will work hand-in-hand with native communities to extend the State's presence to these areas.
"We recognize the failure and the lack of support throughout the years, but this situation must change, and we are determined to do it and to work with the regional government and you (the communities) to make the change you deserve," he added.
