Peru: New Culture Minister sworn in

Alejandro Neyra was on Saturday afternoon sworn in by President Martin Vizcarra as the new Culture Minister of Peru.

The new Culture sector head —who replaces Sonia Guillen— served in said portfolio on a first occasion from January 9 to April 2, 2018.

Neyra was Director of the National Library of Peru (BNP) —a position he reached in May 2017, after having served as Cultural Attaché of Peru in Chile.

He is a career diplomat and writer.

In addition, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) and completed a Bachelor's in Literature at the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM).

He also completed the Peruvian Diplomatic Academy's Master's in Diplomacy, as well as the Executive Master of International Service at the American University in Washington D.C., the United States.

Neyra has written about diplomacy, international relations, literature, and films.
