Economic strength allows Peru to grant bonuses to COVID-19 affected households

00:38 | Lima, May. 26.

Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva affirmed that economic strength enables Peru to grant bonuses to households that need them so as to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The minister explained that the Government decided to grant the
Universal Family Bonus worth S/760 (US$223) to those who meet the criteria for receiving it.

"To date, this bonus has been given to 3.4 million households," she disclosed.

Likewise, the high-ranking official noted that the Government is fully aware that the situation of families is changing due to the impact of the pandemic and, therefore, it will allocate all necessary resources to help them.

"Based on the logic of a Universal Family Bonus that does not apply to people who are on a payroll, we will allocate the additional resources that may be required for households that meet the criteria," she stated.
