on Wednesday reaffirmed her full support for the efforts being carried out by the Public Ministry, with the aim of consolidating and strengthening its work in order to meet its objectives.
In her speech, the Head of State indicated that "if we want to build a solid, safe, and viable country" and "if we want to improve the population's living conditions," "it is necessary to eradicate the evils that hinder our future."
"Therefore, respecting the autonomy and independence of institutions, I have come to reaffirm my full support for the work of the Public Ministry so that it can consolidate, strengthen its work, and thereby fulfill its objectives assigned by the Constitution," she said.
In this sense, the top official expressed the Executive Branch's willingness to meet, as far as possible, the logistical and economic demands "which will facilitate speeding up the investigation proceedings expected by the country."
2023
The President said the opening of the Year 2023 is an opportunity to highlight the important role that the Public Ministry has been playing in recent times, having become "a bulwark of legality."
In this regard,
the Head of State recognized the performance of Attorney General Patricia Benavides, who in recent crucial moments that our homeland experienced
"did not hesitate for a moment to go out to defend the constitutional order and democracy."
"Within the framework of independence and autonomy that the Constitution grants me and that my Government will scrupulously respect, this institution gave the country clear signs of its commitment to the frontal fight against corruption, in the prosecution of crime and the search for truth so that justice is served," she added.
Likewise, Mrs. Boluarte pointed out that Peru has been the epicenter of serious corruption scandals which have not only taken away the resources that should have been directed toward the poorest citizens and the homeland's development, but even worse, "have shaken the foundations of our institutions and democracy."
Dialogue process
The Head of State called on citizens to be committed and undertake efforts so that Peru can overcome one of the most challenging circumstances in its history —being dialogue one of the tools to achieve it.
"The Transition Government that I lead has begun a process of dialogue with all sectors, without exception; no one should feel excluded from dialogue, where we will not only listen, but also solve urgent needs which had not been addressed for years," she stated.
